Steve Vai Festival in Groningen!
20-24th October, 2010

10 years ago the NNO initiated a unique annual festival in Groningen, each year featuring an internationally known contemporary composer. This year we proudly present the virtuoso guitarist and composer, Steve Vai.

Steve Vai is the Paganini of the rock guitar, a virtuoso, a perfectionist in every musical style he embraces who is always looking for new boundaries in his playing and composing.

The festival
During the Festival you will also hear Steve Vai world premières including the especially for the occasion composed work 'Expanding the Universe'. Vai will perform twice with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra (NNO) on October 22nd and 23rd. Later on in the week there is a Vai-competition called 'Naked Tracks', and on Sunday 24th October a documentary on the history of the electric guitar. For more details please click on the programme page on this website.

The NNO, NTR and The Oosterpoort are proud to be able to organise concerts involving artists of international standing and attraction, putting Groningen firmly on the map as an artistic centre.

We wish you an enjoyable Steve Vai Festival.
